Quick Write 2021

As they dashed off, a glimmer of stripes could be seen, A old guy with a scratch on his face said "there is that wild striped black and white animal" As he glanced at the animal with his eye's half way closed  the horses galloped away with they manes glowing in the wind, The zebra was frightened so he ran of like a hunger cheetah getting food, he was gone in a flash, the old man said 'dang we will get him next time"

 Today i made  a new song with Aaliyah  it is about our friend ship we where going to record it but it was bad we where to quiet But we did finish the song its called Aaliyah and charlies song.

Swimming

                                                        

 I have enjoyed swimming this year because we get to learn how to swim  and survive  a rip. I like  free swim because we get to dive and jump of the diving board. Today we had to link are arms and fall back in the pool and we had to dive in and go as far as we can.  Swimming is my favourite activity.

My Description of a mystery tree

                      

The sparkly lights were Oval shape In the tree and on the ground everywhere you look there is light, Dark at night it hits midnight all the lights turn on by a flash  little sparkles show up with vines, pumpkins they may be but you will never know, A  dead tree standing still, dirty vines hang down by an old dead tree.

The big green giant

 I was once in my house asking my mum if she can read me a book at night until we heard a noise  it was a really big noise so mum put on the news. 

"Hello Hello there is a big giant hide now!'' 

 "Go hide now" Mum said

 I ran up the stairs super fast and hid under my bed my mum hid with me. I saw the giant it was green my mum pulled me. 

"mum he looks hungry" I said

  "oh he does look hungry" answered mum.

 the giant picked up the roof on the house. He said " i am very hungry, can I have some food"

 "oh yes" mum said 

my mum went down the stairs and got some tea. "here you go" said mum. " Thank you so much" said the giant. 

are you still hungry after that long journey "um yes" my mum said go and get some food please Lily. By the way my name is Lily. OK mum so I went down the stairs and looked for food I found ice cream and a big bottle of coke.

 Here you go I said "Thank you I have to go now bye" he said "ok bye" I said .

  I shut the door but I heard a voice  coming through the door "ow that hurt"  

"huh" I replied  I opened the door surprised "who is there"  I said " me the monster" he replied. "where are you"  "down here"  he said.

I looked up and down and then i saw him "HI!" I yelled  LILLY! my mum yelled "sorry"

I picked him up and went to my room. A little voice said "I AM Hungry"  "ok ok i will get some food" (in my mind) "oh no mum is making dinner and she will say no treats before dinner"  

hey mum you know that  um well monste.... wait i mean giant will he came back small " wait wait you mean he is here" uh huh "ok well go get him" ok? 

" she will never know" here you go mum "ha.... oh um yes thanks"  Thanks? i said to mum. 

"Oh um he must be hungry"  he was saying that he was hungry "Lilly you know how your dad left"  yeah "well i lied"   wait what! why "because he is the giant" huh so i am holding dad " yep "  I don't know if i am scared or happy  maybe both.

"I am so sorry for not telling you Lilly"  (In my head) should I hug mum wait mum lied to me oh no here it comes.  WHY DID YOU NOT TELL ME! "Lilly i i i"  here have dad.

I ran up the stairs in rage I cried on my pillow ( 3 hours later ) " here Lilly " thanks mum. As i looked up it was, Dad! I said "hey give me a hug"  How are you here "your mum turned me back to a human" Mum come here "ok"  Mum I am sorry "its ok" 

(In my head) Oh no here comes the hug please no "come on you know you want one" UGH fine.     THE END!

                     

Monday mash up

For Monday mash up I am doing French with Urmi. We learnt French words, how to great people and we made fortune tellers and we did snap in French. We got a piece of paper with names of  colours but in French we had to colour in the paint splats for each word.

We are learning about volcanoes and we are creating a sculpture of a volcano . 

Here are some facts, Indonesia has the highest number of eruptions in the world, There are around 1,500 active volcanoes in the world. As pressure is released gases, dissolved in the magma, bubble out so the composition of lava change.

We went to kids in space on Tuesday the 14th of September. We got to wear space costumes and learn about what to do with an space like how to go to the toilet and how to eat. Candy Earth!

 Today we made earth out of food.

 The M&M is for Inner core and outer core.

 The marshmallow is for the mantel and the chocolate is for the crust.  Even if it is yummy it's not the earth.  I used my finger to do the tectonic plates .

A Egg for the world

 Today we looked at an egg and how it could represent the Earth. 

The egg shell represents the crust. The white stuff represent the mantle. The brown layer around the yolk in the egg represents the outer core and the yolk represent for the inner core.

The Earth has a inner core and an outer core the inner core is made out of solid iron and the outer core is made out of liquid iron .

The next layer is called the mantle . it is made of rock it is very hot in the part of the Earth.

The crust is the part of the earth and we walk on the crust.

Newspaper Report

Today on the Tokyo Olympics is the men's artistic gymnastics. Strength, skills, focus, energy, confidence and sticking landings is what we want to see lets begin. Today we are going to see floor routines vault routines and parallel bars routines. Japan is doing well on the parallel bars and USA is doing good on the floor.  Wow he landed the double handspring  Great Britain is doing well on the vault can he land it ,oh just a little step. The Holidays

 In the holidays I went on a car trip. I saw the view out my window. I was bumping my head on my chest  but we got to the house we got are stuff and went inside. My Mum's two friends were there and the kids we put are stuff upstairs. In the morning we went to the pools it was like a ice bath. I went on one hydro-slide and then the  nice hot pools we went back to the house and had Snacks. The next day we went to the lolly shop  and then we went to the pools we went back to the house and had a snack then we went  on freezing ice to go ice skating it was my fist time ever going ice skating I did the splits! it was funny then for dinner we went out to a restaurant I fixed the toilet . It was time to go home I stepped in the car and we went home Guess where i went?                  

2021 New Zealand history

Reflection of the term

I really enjoyed walking the Bridle Path this term and  I was proud of myself for doing it.  I was struggling at the start but I made it.  We did the Bridle path because we experienced what the Europeans had to go through. going down was easy. But I enjoyed going on the trip with my friends and the teachers.    

I enjoyed doing Dancing like the stars because it was fun to dance with my partner Ruby. 

School lunches

 plus - I like the ham and cheese croissant and ham and cheese pizza.

minus-  I do not like the egg sandwich because the egg makes it soggy.

minus - I do not like the meat.

minus-I do not like the vegetables.    

Bridle Path

We walked the Bridle Path, well half way. We did it to experience what the people in the 1850's had to go through. It was hard to get up. But easy to get down, well I was not paying attention and I tripped. That was not a fun time but at the end I did it so I am proud of myself for doing it. Lexie helped me do it.

The hardest time was going up because it was steep. It was fun but I do not think I will do it again. Maybe one day. I think I can't complain because the Europeans walked the Bridle Path with bags. So here are some pictures.        

         

The Great Journey Kehu and Brunner

The Maori name for the buller river is Kawatiri. Kehu and Brunner were travelling through a bush along the buller river. Brunner and kehu wanted to find new farm land. It took 550 days. They had to eat seaweed and Brunners dog. They had to climbed Timuku cliffs. The ladder was made out of rocks and vines. June the 6, 6 months trough  their journey. Of the 6 months of there Journey they found a person. Brunner ran away and crashed his ankle. Brunner had a stroke it must have been scary. Brunner was the first European to understand Maori life.  As you can see they went through a lot of hard things But they made it. I wonder how it was like. Was it scary  having a stroke.

 For our inquiry about Belonging and NZ history  I have chosen to investigate V shaped huts. 

Here is my research.

V shaped huts were made by the Europeans in 1850’s.

V shaped huts were distinctive to the Canterbury settlement and were put up as temporary accommodation for new settlers. The buildings consisted of a thatched roof with doors and windows at one end. They appear not to have had chimneys, suggesting cooking was done outside.

These were built at Riccarton and photographed in 1864. These huts were built by Charles Bowen, and were the first in the district. They were located at Milford, rural section Number Ninety-four on Fendall Town Road.

Early Europeans tricked the Maori in the Treaty of Waitangi so that they could take lots of the land.                                                                                                                              

The Maori signed the treaty but they did not fully understand what it meant. because it wasn’t translated properly.                                                                                                      

By 1890, Europeans had cut down three-quarters of the forests and used the land for farms and houses.                                                                                                  

The Early Europeans brought diseases and parasites. In the Te Ara Article about Europeans impact on New Zealand it says that “Along with immigrants came new animals, crop plants, parasites and diseases.”

They brought  diseases like “smallpox, measles, typhus, and cholera’’        

Did you know that the Europeans killed a lot of whales. “Whalers followed from about 1800. By about 1850, this brief but devastating exploitation was over” The Europeans killed a lot of whales.                                                                                                                                      

So I think that the Europeans should have treated the Maori fairly.    

  

 

What I learnt from Ferry-mead

   I Learnt:

• Ladles before gentlemen.
• Children should always be seen but never heard.
• People got shoes that didn't fit them and then stuffed them with newspaper so they fit them.
• Ladles had dresses that had a apron at the front and a hat.
• and the gentlemen had to scrub the deck because the girls if they scrub the deck there dresses would get wet.
• The rich people was at the top of the boat and the poor people were at the bottom of the boat because they have a better view of the ocean. 
• they did ironing  it was on a hot plate so they used handy towel to pick it up we got clothes and ironed them then folded them. 
•  they had to do the washing they had to scrub it on this thing then hang it up.

   I made bread and butter the ingredients were cream and salt for the butter. For the bread you need flour, salt, butter and hot water we got a bowl and put flour in the bowl and cubed the butter with a knife. Then put it in the bowl and we put a pinch of salt  and then you put your bread in the oven You can put your butter in the microwave if you like. This was fun to do and easy to make. We had to shake the cream and salt for 20 seconds and 10 seconds We put half of the bottle of cream in the jam jar. When we made the bread we put a little bit of flour on the bench and then we needed the dough. Back and Ford and then we put the bread on a tray and put it in the oven.

              When the bread was done we put the butter on the bread and ate it.    

School Lunches

We had to make a form for the school lunches we get provided. Then we made a slide what the responses were.    much people actually didn't try the croissants

Monday mashup

 For Monday mashup i did Drama games. It was really fun! My partner was Isla we had to get 3 words and our words were bathroom, motorcycle and car. It was so funny to make and do the performance. We got to see other performances some was so funny and some people's needs some work on.  

Going on a mystery trip?

 My teacher told us we where going on a school trip but he didn't tell us where we were going. 

On the bus I Was thinking what we were going to do because my teacher did not tell us what we were doing. We got at the place it was the fire station. The lady welcomed us in. Then she expand what we are going to do. We put on the fire station clothes on but they were  too big. Then we could go in the fire truck or with a hose and spray fake fire. And then there was a real fire.The lady said bye to us then we went on the bus again and left. I told mum about the trip.

 One day I was doing a Olympics for swimming. As i was diving in the water i was in lead i saw Phelps   coming up to me i was going to stop at finish line But i stopped in the middle  but I did not give up I was about  to not win I heard cheering . did I crossed the line or not...

Yesterday we went to the gymnastics place we did a lot of fun things.

I'm going to name them one by one and I'm going to tell you them

[1] We had to put are  hands on the  lily pads on the ground and we had to see how far we could go on a block.

[2] We had to go on bars and put on knees up to us stomach then there was a big rubber band we had to put both of our feet in it and swing.then we had to go on another bar and do the same thing  we did on are first one.

[3] Then we went on the beams there was a small one and medium one  and a big one the first move we had to do is put are arms out and go across the beam then we had to do it on the next ones.

[4]  Then we had to go on a trampoline and we had to do moves then 

we had to do that move on boxes. 

[5] We went to a bouncy trampoline and we had to do me into the 

form pit.
